An evening in an exclusive box
Vienna, February 2026. At the 68th Vienna Opera Ball the box decides the evening. From there you look down on the dance floor, that is where guests come to greet you, and that is where the conversations happen. Marvin Schertl and Dr Sina Schertl spent the evening in an exclusive box together with fashion designer Harald Glööckler, Her Highness Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen, dressage rider Tatiana Makarova and selected friends.

Harald Glööckler arrived in a classic black tailcoat with a white bow tie, a floor-length white fur coat and a swept-up blonde mane. His appearance was conceived as a homage to Empress Elisabeth and became one of the most discussed images of the evening, in the hall and on social media alike. Anyone who knows Glööckler knows this is not chance but craft: he stages an entrance the way others build a stage set.

Her Highness Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen

For Marvin and Dr Sina Schertl it was a reunion; their first meeting was some time ago and took place in the circle around Harald Glööckler, who is an ambassador of the Flame of Peace. Between the opening and "Alles Walzer"
The evening follows a fixed dramaturgy: the entrance of the 160 debutante couples from around 15 countries, the fan polonaise, the committee's waltz, then the "Alles Walzer" that opens the ballroom to all 5,500 guests. Between those points, a box leaves room for the very thing one is there for: conversation and international exchange, often with people it would otherwise take months to get around one table.
Dr Sina Schertl wore a rosé embroidered evening gown with diamond jewellery, Marvin Schertl the classic black tailcoat: an appearance entirely in the spirit of an Opera Ball elegance that needs no explanation.

Why a box means more than a seat for a furniture house
