The motif
A dancer stands on one leg, the other bent, holding two shallow bowls: one high above her head, the second at hip height. The water falls from the upper into the lower bowl. The banded bobbed hair and the stretched line come from the Art Deco of the twenties.

Craftsmanship and casting
Figure, bowls and the round base are made separately and joined after casting. The dark, almost black patina is polished on the heights so that shoulders, chest and the rims of the bowls flash in the light. The sculpture is cast in solid bronze using the lost wax process, the technique that has been in use since antiquity. Every piece is chased and patinated individually by hand, and only then does the final colour appear.

Placement and effect
At 222 cm the dancer rises above any planting and carries a courtyard, a water basin or an entrance axis on her own. Operation requires a pump and a power connection, neither of which is included.

Material and care
Bronze is weatherproof and may stand outdoors all year round, the surface develops its own grown patina over the years. Before the first frost the pump and the water line are drained and the basin is left dry. Because every piece is cast and patinated by hand, no two are identical.
