This chandelier by Casa Padrino follows the classical bag shape of 19th-century salons, but executes it in silver rather than gold. A broad ring with a running laurel rim closes it at the top; beneath hang hundreds of drop-shaped crystal pendants in six tiers down to a slender point.

The change of colour alters the effect noticeably. Where a golden mount pulls the light towards warmth, silver stays neutral: the glass reads as clearer, the reflections cooler. That suits white lacquered surfaces, pale stone, chrome and glass, where gold quickly becomes dominant.

The rounded drops refract the light softly and without hard colour fringes. Set closely together, they conceal the bulbs entirely; all that remains visible is an even glow between the pendants that does not glare.
