The whole figure is a single sweeping line: from the beak over the arched back to the tail running flat onto the base. There is no edge for the eye to catch on.
The closed eyes give it an expression such pieces rarely have: not watchful but at rest. The surface is polished smooth; only the front edge of the base carries a fine relief as a counterweight.
Bronze has mass, and you feel it when you lift it. A figure that stays where it is put. Reproduction, not an antique.
