The bees are embroidered individually and sit in an even repeat across the whole face. Each has a pale body and golden wings, the thread standing proud of the velvet.
On a dark green ground the gold reads warmer than on blue and less hard than on black, which makes this the easiest of the bee cushions to live with.
A small all-over motif is the safest choice when a room already carries pattern: it brings colour without competing with stripes or florals.
