An evening of the grand hotels: the Beach Ball on the Croisette
Cannes, May 2026. During the film festival every square metre of the Croisette turns into a stage, yet only a handful of evenings truly count as a first address. The Beach Ball Gala Dinner & Awards on the private beach of the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic is one of them: an evening for invited guests from film, fashion, art, business and European society, hosted by Royal Gentlemen Events, one of the most respected private event houses on the Riviera. Marvin Schertl and Dr Sina Schertl represented Casa Padrino, one year after the house itself had been honoured in this very place.
Venue: private beach of the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic, Croisette, Cannes
Occasion: Beach Ball Gala Dinner & Awards during the 2026 film festival
Hosts: Royal Gentlemen Events, Thomas Misse and Marek Harmony
Casa Padrino: provider of the awards, honoured at the same gala the year before
The first address on the Croisette
Since 1926 the Majestic has been the house in which Cannes receives its guests. An art deco palace right beside the Palais des Festivals, with 335 rooms, 80 suites, seven signature suites and a penthouse. The hotel has its own stretch of beach, and it was there, practically with one's feet in the Mediterranean, that the evening took place.
The sun set behind the Esterel massif, the sky turned coral, champagne and sapphire, and the bay lay golden in front of the guests. White linen lounges, lanterns, generous floral arrangements, and beneath the music the sound of the waves. Charles Madelaine Champagne was served. The idea behind the evening goes back to the legendary beach balls of Palm Beach, that form of society in which elegance appears effortless and nothing at all is left to chance.
The highlight was the haute couture show on the pontoon, the walkway that leads from the Majestic's beach out into the open sea. Against the expanse of the Mediterranean and the last of the daylight, the models walked a runway that could not be built at any other address in the world.
An audience that usually stays behind closed doors
The guest list brought together an international circle of entrepreneurs, collectors, filmmakers, fashion personalities, philanthropists and members of European society. Among the guests of the evening were Davina and Shania Geiss. It is precisely the audience that keeps villas on this coast, charters yachts and books grand hotels, and that decides on interiors not by price but by signature. After the gala dinner the awards of the evening were presented, honouring outstanding achievement in culture, business and philanthropy.
Honoured in 2025, provider of the awards in 2026
For Casa Padrino a circle closes on this beach. At the Beach Ball Gala Dinner & Awards 2025 at the Majestic Beach Club the house itself was honoured, for outstanding design quality and international brand positioning. Marvin Schertl and Dr Sina Schertl accepted the award in person.
In 2026 the brand stood on the other side of the stage: the trophies handed to this year's honourees were design pieces by Casa Padrino. Anyone honoured for a life's work on such an evening should not be given a piece of sheet metal, but an object worth placing in a display cabinet.
The hosts: Royal Gentlemen Events
Royal Gentlemen Events, founded by Thomas Misse and Marek Harmony, is among the most respected private event houses on the Côte d'Azur, staging exclusive evenings during the Cannes Film Festival and around the Monaco Grand Prix, as well as private gatherings in Monte Carlo. The Beach Ball is carried jointly with AI Films and the Congress Awards. Proceeds from the raffle went to an organisation that helps people with kidney failure in Africa gain access to dialysis. The guiding principle of the house sums up the spirit of these evenings: the art of living is not the art of appearing, but the art of knowing how to be.
Why Casa Padrino is present in Cannes
The coast between Saint-Tropez and Monaco is a core market for the house. Villas, yachts, grand hotels and boutiques along this shoreline are among the spaces Casa Padrino works for, frequently as a complete furnishing from the first design to installation on site. Production is largely by hand: furniture in Italy, ceramics by Spanish artisans, brass in Indian workshops, together with solid marble, gold leaf and hand upholstery. Dimensions, materials and finishes are freely selectable, up to unique one-off pieces.
The 2026 season was accordingly dense: alongside the Beach Ball, the evening with Philipp Plein at his villa above Cannes, and over the course of the year the Vienna Opera Ball, the Bal de Noël in Monaco, the Women of Monaco Awards and the Bal de la Rose in Monte Carlo.
