An evening dedicated to Panama, at the Yacht Club de Monaco
Monte Carlo, 2024. The Yacht Club de Monaco is one of the few addresses in the Principality that brings society, diplomacy and philanthropy together in a single evening. That is exactly what the Latin American Charity Gala did, hosted by the Association Monégasque des Latino-Américains (AMLA) under the high patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and with the support of the Embassy of Panama. Among the guests were Marvin Schertl, founder and artistic director of Casa Padrino, and Dr Sina Schertl.

A country as guest
Each edition of the gala places one Latin American country at its centre. This year it was Panama, and the evening was accordingly not decorated but built: two of the country's best-known starred chefs had been flown in, bringing their own ingredients, and served a five-course menu. Traditional Panamanian music and a salsa performance accompanied the evening.
The Yacht Club de Monaco, designed by Norman Foster and standing at Port Hercule since 2014, gives such an evening its setting: sober architecture, an audience of shipowners, entrepreneurs, diplomats and collectors, and a view of the yachts in the harbour.
Conversations that can lead somewhere
In the course of the evening Marvin and Dr Sina Schertl met the First Lady of Panama and the country's ambassador in Paris. The conversations turned on cultural and social projects and on how Casa Padrino might contribute in future. For a house that works internationally, such evenings are where courtesy turns into collaboration.
What the evening raised money for
The proceeds of the charity auction, in which collector's items and bespoke journeys went under the hammer, went to the Fundación Unidos por la Niñez, dedicated to the protection and advancement of children in Panama, and to AMADE, the children's charity supported by the princely family. The evening was expressly dedicated to the fight against violence towards children.

Casa Padrino and the Principality
Monaco and the adjoining Côte d'Azur are among the core markets of the house.
