Secure Payment When Buying Furniture Online: How to Pay Casa Padrino Safely

At Casa Padrino you can pay by PayPal, by credit card or by bank transfer. This page explains, in plain terms, how they generally work, what to look out for and how you can check for yourself that your payment reaches the right recipient.

One point matters from the outset: the precise terms of PayPal, your bank or your card issuer are set by those providers alone. We describe the general principles; their current rules always apply.

The payment methods available at Casa Padrino

Casa Padrino is the furniture brand of Demotex GmbH, a company based in Essen, Germany, and founded in 2007. Orders placed in our online shop can be paid in three familiar ways: PayPal, credit card and bank transfer.

Whichever you choose, your contractual partner is a registered German company with a fixed address, an entry in the commercial register and a VAT identification number. You are not paying a private individual or an anonymous intermediary, but the company that also issues your invoice.

PayPal and how buyer protection generally works

For many customers PayPal is the most familiar way to pay online. You log in to your PayPal account, confirm the amount and the merchant receives the payment without ever seeing your bank or card details.

On top of that, PayPal offers its own buyer protection. It is a service provided by PayPal, not by Casa Padrino. In principle it is designed to help buyers when a paid item does not arrive or differs significantly from its description. In such cases you can open a case with PayPal, which then reviews it. Which purchases are covered, which deadlines apply and what evidence is required are set out in PayPal's current user agreement. If you want the details, that is the place to look.

Credit card and chargebacks through your card issuer

Credit cards are often the most convenient option for customers outside Germany. You enter your card details at checkout, the payment is authorised and the amount appears on your card statement.

An important safeguard with credit cards is the chargeback process. You contact the bank that issued your card and, where there are valid grounds, ask it to reverse a payment, for example if goods you paid for were never delivered or an amount was charged incorrectly. The bank examines the case together with the card network. Whether a chargeback is possible, which time limits apply and which documents are needed is decided by your card issuer and the rules of the card network concerned, not by the merchant.

Bank transfer: only to the company account named in our legal notice

For larger sums, complete furnishing projects or business customers, a classic bank transfer remains a popular choice. It is simple and leaves a clear paper trail.

Unlike PayPal or a credit card, a bank transfer usually has no built-in buyer protection, and once a transfer has been executed it generally cannot simply be recalled. That makes checking the recipient all the more important. The rule is straightforward: only transfer money to the company account of Demotex GmbH named in our legal notice. The account holder is a company, never a private person.

Should you ever receive a message giving you different bank details, do not transfer anything. Call us on +49 201 36577485 or write to info@casa-padrino.de.

Clear prices and a proper invoice

Paying safely also means knowing exactly what you are paying for. All prices at Casa Padrino include statutory VAT. Shipping costs are shown before you complete your order, so you know the total amount before you commit.

After your purchase you receive a proper invoice from Demotex GmbH, showing the company address, the commercial register number and the VAT identification number.

How to recognise a secure checkout

There are a few checks worth making whenever you buy furniture online, whichever shop you are dealing with:

A complete legal notice: company name, address, managing director, commercial register and VAT number should all be stated. Ours: Demotex GmbH, Hammer Str. 64, 45239 Essen, Germany, managing director Marvin Schertl, Amtsgericht Essen HRB 24428, VAT ID DE279640593.
Verifiable data: the commercial register entry can be looked up on the German states' joint register portal, and the VAT number through the European VIES system.
An encrypted connection: check that the address bar of your browser shows https before entering any payment details.
Usual payment channels: be wary if a shop only accepts transfers to private accounts abroad, gift cards or cash transfer services.
Reachability: a reputable retailer can be reached by phone and email and has a real address.

Larger sums and bespoke pieces

Many of our clients furnish not just a single room but an entire house, a hotel, a restaurant or a bar. Projects of this kind, and custom-made pieces in particular, involve higher amounts and individual arrangements. It pays to put every detail in writing: dimensions, materials, colours, upholstery fabrics, delivery address and payment method.

Please note that bespoke pieces made to your personal specifications are excluded from the right of withdrawal. You are welcome to visit us in Essen (Monday to Friday 10 am to 5 pm, Saturday 10 am to 2 pm). What to look for when buying high-end furniture on the internet in general is covered on our page buying luxury furniture online.

Your rights once you have paid

Security does not end with the payment. As a consumer you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from receipt of the goods. Custom-made pieces are excluded. The exact rules are set out in our withdrawal policy, and our page on furniture returns explains the process.

The statutory warranty applies as well. In Germany and the EU it generally lasts two years for consumers and gives you rights if an item is defective at the time of delivery. Large furniture is delivered securely packed by freight forwarder as kerbside delivery, smaller items by parcel service. Please note any visible damage on the delivery note on receipt and send us photos. We then handle the claim with the forwarder and arrange repair, replacement or a refund.
